The Infectious Disease Division of the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a new full-time faculty member for our expanding programs. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong interest and experience working with patients with opioid use disorder and marginalized patient populations. Candidates should also have an interest in the clinical management of hepatitis C and HIV, although experience is not required.
The position will be based in Washington, DC, providing outpatient clinical care and conducting clinical research with the DC Partnership for HIV/AIDS Progress (DC PFAP) Hepatitis Clinical Research Program. Applicants must be eligible to obtain an independent medical license in both Maryland and Washington, DC; and be board-certified in internal medicine or family medicine. Training in infectious diseases is not required. Candidates with experience in treatment of opioid use disorder with opioid agonist therapy and experience with incarcerated patient populations are preferred, but not required. Responsibilities will include providing comprehensive clinical care in outpatient settings to patients with opioid use disorder and HCV infection.
Major interests of the IHV Clinical Research Division include chronic viral pathogenesis, viral immunoregulation, and the development and clinical evaluation of immunological, gene therapeutic and novel biological approaches to therapy of chronic human viral pathogens. Viral pathogens of programmatic interest include HIV, HTLV-I/II, HPV, HCV, and HSV-6.
Expected faculty rank for this position is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with experience.
