Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care Associate Director (faculty, 0.50-0.75 FTE)

The Center for Primary Care (Center) was founded in 2010 to strengthen primary care education and innovation at Harvard Medical School. Over the past eight years, the Center has grown successfully by facilitating innovations in practices, conducting original research by studying exemplar primary care systems, launching new training programs, assisting with curricular change at HMS, supporting entrepreneurs in primary care delivery, and engaging students.

As the Center prepares for its next phase of growth and impact, it is recruiting an exceptional faculty member to join our team as Associate Director (AD). The AD will report to the Faculty Director (Director) of the Center for Primary Care and will work closely with the Director and Executive Director to refine and implement the Center’s strategy to meet the goals of Harvard Medical School as well as the local, national, and global primary care community. The AD will also contribute to the career development of faculty and staff within the Center and help ensure a team-based, nimble, mission-driven culture with open communication, and shared responsibility for achieving the Center’s mission, goals, and financial sustainability. The AD will focus her/his efforts on serving as faculty leader for the Center’s implementation science and systems transformation strategy, seeking grants and funding for novel research in delivery science, implementation and improvement, and developing a research plan for primary care implementation science and systems transformation.

Candidates should already hold, or be eligible for, a Harvard Medical School Faculty Appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates should actively practice in primary care and have experience mentoring students in an academic setting. She/he should have experience in medical home transformation, quality improvement methodologies, implementation science, and/or leadership training for students and frontline primary care providers. Candidates should have a record of grant support or funded research and scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals, particularly in the areas of primary care transformation, implementation science, improvement methodologies, or leadership development.

Successful candidates will have engaging interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal effectively with senior-level managers, clinicians, and a variety of key stakeholders including scientists, scholars, policymakers, and high-level leaders in the public, non-profit, and private sectors.
