The Duke University Health System Department of Pathology is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time position as an academic Gastrointestinal (GI) and Liver Pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Ideal candidates are excellent diagnosticians with a deep interest in teaching who function well in a team setting. Demonstrated clinical and/or translational research experience is desirable. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree and a valid NC medical license or qualifications to obtain one, and be ABP Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology. Previous GI/Liver fellowship training or an equivalent is necessary.

This faculty member would participate in a busy clinical service, which includes sign out of GI biopsies, liver biopsies, transplant biopsies, and large resection specimens. The ability to cover frozen sections and to rotate occasionally onto another subspecialty bench is desirable. The surgical pathology section of the department processes more than 50,000 accessions annually. The clinical laboratories perform more than 16 million tests annually. The GI/Liver surgical pathology volume is approximately 12,000 accessions per year.
