JOB SUMMARY:

The VP of Government Programs is the leader directly responsible for Geisinger Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, CHIP, Affordable Care Act and other government programs lines of business, including the LIFE Geisinger program (collectively, the “Government Programs”).  In this role, the VP of Government Programs has accountability for the profitable growth of GHP’s Government Programs and the corresponding operations that support the Government Programs.  In addition to ongoing operational responsibilities, the VP of Government Programs is also responsible for providing strategic direction regarding the future of the Government Programs in conjunction and coordination with initiatives of the larger Geisinger Health System. 

 

Reports directly to GHP’s Associate Chief Legal Officer and Regulatory Affairs Officer.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated leadership and project management skills with the ability to work collaboratively to produce results across functional teams.

 

Demonstrated ability to interface with regulators, legislative staff, lobbyists and industry peers/associates, and vendors.

 

Demonstrated research and analytical abilities.

 

Demonstrated competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills.

 

Demonstrated public presentation skills.

 

Demonstrated computer proficiency particularly with MS Office software.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.

 

Minimum ten years’ experience in the Managed Care Insurance Industry with responsibilities in regulatory, operations and contractual areas for at least three years.

 

Experience interfacing with regulators, auditors, legislative staff, lobbyists and other third parties.

 

Experience with Government Programs lines of business preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is typically performed in an office environment. May require occasional evening and weekend work and some local / overnight travel.
