The Bladder Cancer Section of the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (GMB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking a Bladder Cancer Medical Oncologist to serve as an integral member of our clinical research team, contributing to the development of clinical research protocols focused on phase 1 and 2 trials of new therapeutic agents and combinations and caring for cancer patients enrolled on these trials. The Bladder Cancer Section of the GMB advances novel therapeutic strategies and conducts clinical trials based on cancer-specific genomic, epigenetic and metabolic alterations, drug design, and molecular mechanisms of drugs acting on the genome to achieve precision medicine. The Bladder Cancer Program integrates both basic and translational science programs. The translational clinical program focuses on novel therapeutic agents and disease mechanisms in bladder cancer and rare genitourinary tumors. Novel therapeutic modalities are selected based on pharmacodynamic and genomic biomarkers and mechanistic hypotheses to assess clinical activity and molecular determinants of response at the early phase of drug development. Opportunities for collaboration with studies in other solid tumors and disciplines are strongly encouraged.

CCR is the largest component of the intramural biomedical research effort at NIH and a major user of the NIH Clinical Research Center, a state-of-the-art research hospital on the campus of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.
