Internal Medicine Physician Educator

Portland, Oregon - Providence Portland Medical Center Department of Medical Education is seeking an exceptional clinician-educator in Internal Medicine to join our faculty. Our Department is a unique, collaborative group of clinician educators focused on training the next generation of physicians. Our 30-resident program emphasizes mentorship, role modeling and rigorous clinical experiences that balance clinical exposure in a variety of settings including outpatient general medicine, inpatient medicine and internal medicine subspecialties with understanding of the health care system, evidence based medicine and quality improvement. We host medical students on our core rotations each month including students from Oregon Health & Science University. In this position you will:

• Work closely with the Garnjobst Chair of Medical Education and the Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency to provide vision, leadership, organizational skills and teaching supervision for the internal medicine residents and medical students.
• Approximately 60 percent of time will be spent in direct patient care and clinical supervision, and 40 percent academic responsibilities including teaching, evaluation and scholarship.
• The role involves primarily outpatient attending at the Providence Medical Group- Northeast clinic, both independent primary care and precepting residents. The role also involves spending some time on the wards at PPMC.
• Faculty regularly engage in scholarly activity including quality improvement research as well as local, regional and national presentations.

Facility Description

Providence Health & Services-Oregon sponsors four ACGME-accredited residency programs: Providence Milwaukie Family Medicine; Providence Hood River Rural Track; Providence Portland Internal Medicine Residency; and Providence St. Vincent Internal Medicine Residency. All four programs are affiliated with Oregon Health Sciences University and also serve as clinical training sites for OHSU-sponsored residency programs. The programs have successfully implemented ACGME's Next Accreditation System, fill consistently in Match and have outstanding board pass rates.
