RWJBarnabas Health is currently seeking candidates for the role of Chair of Medicine, at Jersey City Medical Center. The Chair will lead Department of +300 physicians comprised of 16 medical sections, including cardiology, endocrinology, dermatology, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric/palliative, hematology/oncology, hospitalist, infectious disease, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, pain management, physician medicine and rehabilitation, pulmonary medicine, and rheumatology.

The Department also includes an independent fully accredited residency program in internal medicine. The Chair of the Department of Medicine Chair is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising all administrative activities of the department including the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The Chair also is responsible for all clinical activity related to the Department/Service, including Department compliance with statues, rules, and regulations for all state and federal governmental agencies as well as the accreditation standards of the DNV and ACGME.

Qualifications include the following: Board Certification in Internal Medicine with possible added qualifications and boards in a subspecialty area. Candidate should have exceptional interpersonal skills, strong clinical background, and keen understanding of how to drive and maintain clinical quality standards. Prior leadership experience within a diverse academic institution with both employed and voluntary faculty is also critical.  All candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
