Job Summary:

The Steele Institute provides core innovation services as the innovation "Hub" of the organization. This includes application development (web and mobile) with sandbox (development environment) capability, patient engagement expertise, innovation (non-operational) data and analytics , project and program management services, evaluation sciences services (outcomes, economics), population health and healthcare transformation support services, industrial systems engineering and predictive analytics, innovation communications team (grant writer, publicist, etc.), business development expertise (industry liaisons, start-up, investment).  Major duties and responsibilities include:

·         In partnership the leadership team, develops a strategic plan for Innovation in Health Care and Delivery, including the development and fostering of a “culture of innovation” throughout the system at all levels.  Identifies new market spaces.

·         Builds a world-class innovation team for the organization.  Training Geisinger personnel on the skills they need, and developing and applying measures to track improvements in innovation and the skills underpinning them. 

·         Leads the implementation of the innovation program and collaboration across the organization.

·         Ensures problem-solving and value creation are at the center of the Institute’s activities.

·         Supports the innovation best practices for Geisinger.

·         Supports clinical and business units in new product and service initiatives.

·         Demonstrates a wide-range of health innovation expertise which includes ability of technology translation, innovation process skills, ability to manage teams and finance / budgeting ability.


Education & Experience:

Master’s degree required.  A minimum of eight (8) years of senior-level operational and management experience required.  Healthcare innovation experience preferred.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in an office environment.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.  GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women’s health (in the Women’s Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics.  The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus.
