Pulmonary Physician

The Department of Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time physician at its Campus in Brooklyn, New York with training and experience in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. 

The position requires outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills. 

Responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with Pulmonary and Sleep disorders; performance of fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound and CT guided navigational biopsies; supervision of Medical and Surgical patients in a combined intensive care unit, and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students. 

Expertise to develop and engage in clinical research is highly desirable. 

In addition, the incumbent will have clinical responsibilities to the Medical Service, including periodic service as preceptor to third-year medical students, and additional ad hoc clinical, teaching, and administrative assignments. 

The Brooklyn Campus of NYHHS is a major teaching affiliate of State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, and the successful candidate will be appointed at SUNY Downstate at an academic level commensurate his or her experience. 

The candidate must have completed three years of Internal Medicine training in an accredited program, as well as a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. 

Expertise in Sleep Medicine is required and additional fellowship training in Sleep Medicine is desirable. 

Board Certification in Internal Medicine is required, as is Board Eligibility or Certification in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
