The Department of Pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the Division of Medical Genetics.

The Division of Medical Genetics has a long history of strong laboratory, translational and clinical research programs centered on lysosomal and glycogen storage disorders, autism, Fragile X syndrome, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, Down syndrome, spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, hypophosphatasia, and the application of genomic science to clinical care through the Undiagnosed Disease Network.  Duke University Medical Center provides opportunities for national and international collaborative research.   We seek to continue to expand our research programs, and a high priority will be placed on creativity in bench research and potential for independent funding.  The position will be supported by a competitive start-up package, protected research effort, and state-of-the-art facilities.

Ideal candidates should be physician-scientists with a primary interest in bench research.  Areas of research focus could include genomics, human genetics, stem cell biology, gene therapy, other therapeutic approaches, or clinical/translational research.  Eligible candidates must hold an MD or MD/PhD degree and be board certified/eligible in Clinical Genetics and/or Clinical Biochemical or Medical Biochemical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

The Greater Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill is family-friendly while offering vibrant dining, arts, and cultural activities. The Research Triangle Park, a globally prominent high-tech research and development center conceived around the three academic centers in the region, has made the area culturally diverse, economically resilient and nationally recognized as a great place to live and work.
