Since it was established in 1867, AUB’s Faculty of Medicine (AUB-FM) has graduated ethical, skilled, compassionate, and socially responsible professionals. On average, AUB-FM graduates 100 medical doctors, 93 trained medical specialists, and 23 biomedical researchers earning either Master of Science (MS) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees each year. AUB-FM is the highest-ranking faculty in the Arab region in the field of medicine according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

In 2019, the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education Programs (TEPDAD) International Medical Education Accreditation Council has ruled that the AUB-FM’s medical program meets the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Standards satisfactorily. Accordingly, the AUB-FM’s medical program has been granted full accreditation for a period of six years (2019-2024).

In addition to the four-year MD program, AUB-FM offers graduate medical education (residency and fellowship programs) in various departments and disciplines. AUB-FM received initial Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International (ACGME-I) institutional accreditation in July 2014, becoming the first medical center in Lebanon and the fourth in the world to receive institutional accreditation from ACGME-I.

AUB-FM also offers MS and PhD programs in biomedical sciences, MS in orthodontics, MS in health research with FHS, MS and PhD programs in biomedical engineering with MSFEA, and three BS degree programs in allied health professions with FHS.

AUB-FM’s four Basic Medical Sciences Departments and 15 Clinical Departments continue to be internationally recognized for their contributions in basic, clinical, and translational research. The Faculty offers opportunities and funding for its faculty members to come together to share knowledge and collaborate.
