POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Provides direct clinical and operational support for the Department of Radiation Medicine, as part of the system-based service-line of Radiation Medicine.
  • Will work locally and with service line leadership in developing a strategic plan for the department.
  • Will be responsible for the financial and operating metrics. Provides operational leadership for all quality services.
  • Provides clinical leadership and expertise within the quality clinical team.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve the patient and family experience of care and the efficiency and effectiveness of resource use. 
  • Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates care management
  2. Participates and provides clinical leadership in the development and review of care quality and clinical protocols on the department QA program group.
  3. Ensures site physician coverage during operation hours.
  4. Develops policies for guidelines for appropriate radiation therapy referrals.
  5. Provides leadership of regular team meetings for the operational and administrative functions of the quality program.
  6. Coordinates annual strategic planning for the quality program.
  7. Develops and provides oversight of metrics to demonstrate program impact.
  8. Provides leadership in the identification of education needs for hospital staff and development of effective educational strategies.
  9. Provides outreach and education for community agencies and health care settings as appropriate.
  10. Oversees implementation of clinical protocols, assist with IRB approvals, utilization review, case management, quality assurance.
  11. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory standards.
  12. Participates in quality assurance and peer review programs, including compliance with and implementation of any resulting recommendations.
  13. Serves as spokesperson for the quality program internally and externally.
  14. Serves as program director for fellowship training, if applicable.
  15. Works with Public Relations to develop and update program marketing materials.
  16. Performs related duties, as required.
  17. Identifies and develops new clinical programs consistent with market opportunity, patient need, and financial feasibility. Presents plans to Hospital and Service Line leadership.
  18. Ensures continued strong relationships with the voluntary physician community and works collaboratively on program development. Represents and meets the needs of the voluntary community in an effective manner.
  19. Increases the utilization of Hospital services consistent with Hospital standards.
  20. Works with the Health System Foundation and actively supports fundraising strategies relative to the future expansion of services and programs consistent with the mission of the Health System and the Department.
  21. Recommends policy positions within the Health System related to relevant legislation, government regulation, and other matters of public policy that impact on the Department of Radiation Oncology and its sub-specialties.
  22. Understands and responds to the health needs of the community through education, advocacy, partnerships, and program development.
  23. Participates on relevant Health System and Medical Staff committees, and personally attends local Medical Board meetings.
  24. Works to ensure that annual operating and departmental fund budgets meet annual targets.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience beyond training
  • Associate Professor level preferred
  • Experience in leadership position preferred
  • Outstanding communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, hospital management, and staff, required.
  • Must possess recent experience in generally accepted and currently used methods and techniques.
  • Completion of Medical Residency with Board Certification.
  • Currently licensed as a physician in the State of New York (preferred).

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
