Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking an academic and clinical leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Surgery and Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

The Chair of the Department of Surgery is responsible for the full scope of clinical, research, and educational activities of the department and serves as a senior leader in the hospital and medical school. The role also includes collaborative activities with other departments, Partners HealthCare System, Harvard Medical School, and other affiliated institutions.

Candidates will have a proven record as a mentor and teacher, with national recognition as a leader in academic surgery, including clinical excellence, research accomplishments, and innovation. He/she will possess exceptional leadership, managerial, and collaborative skills. Ideally, she/he will be a highly effective and proven leader with an international reputation in surgery who can lead a complex and successful department to even higher levels of excellence.
