The VA Boston Healthcare System Medical Service at the West Roxbury campus serves as a tertiary care referral center for the veteran population throughout New England, and is a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. Inpatient and outpatient services provide clinic training for 35 cardiology fellows each year from the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Boston Medical Center.

The Cardiology Section invites applications for a full-time faculty leadership position, the Director of Clinical Cardiology. Outstanding clinician educators with significant inpatient administrative experience and an academic rank at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. The Director of Clinical Cardiology will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of inpatient services led by Section cardiologists at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center, including patient care by the inpatient teams of cardiology fellows and medical residents in the CCU and Cardiovascular Floors, and the Cardiology Consultation Service. The Director will coordinate cardiology care across the Medical Center and work with the Director of Ambulatory Cardiology to provide coordination of inpatient care with ambulatory follow-up in the Cardiology Clinics. Interest in acute coronary or heart failure care and/or critical care medicine is desirable. Clinical duties will include attending on the inpatient cardiology services, as well as participation in other activities of the Section, including teaching of house staff, fellows, and medical students, attending in the Ambulatory Cardiology Clinic, and EKG reading. Applicants are encouraged to develop a program in clinical research or quality and outcomes research or an equivalent area of academic pursuit.
