The Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking an outstanding physician-scientist to serve as the Chief of our Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. We are looking for an individual with exemplary leadership, administrative, and mentoring skills who will enhance the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division. The University of Pittsburgh is annually ranked in the top five institutions in terms of NIH funding dollars, and UPMC, as a partner, continues to make major investments in the academic mission of the School of Medicine. The Division of Endocrinology currently has over 30 faculty members as well as a number of clinical and research fellows and supports a large clinical operation excelling in care of patients with diabetes and thyroid-related disorders. The Division has a robust research mission that includes the recently created Center for Metabolism and Mitochondrial Medicine. The Division conducts clinical research in the areas of obesity and diabetes, bone loss, and thyroid cancer, and preclinical research in insulin resistance, mitochondrial biology, and lipid metabolism. The selected candidate will be provided substantial resources to create new centers of excellence, fund two endowed chairs, and recruit a pool of talented physician-scientists and PhD faculty.
