Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC), aligning with the national commitment to healthcare reform, is positioning the organization to ensure patient care that is driven by quality performance and efficiency. The Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is seeking a Director to lead a new Center for Healthcare Innovation and Transformation. The Director will lead and expand a multidisciplinary team of highly successful translational investigators whose research spans the spectrum from clinical to population-based studies. We are seeking a Director who will provide vision to the research and training missions of the Center, and who will lead efforts to develop programmatic areas of research. The Director for the Center for Health Care Innovation and Transformation will be part of the leadership team developing progressive population health initiatives throughout the academic and clinical enterprise.

The Director will interact with a number of existing programs conducting clinical and translational research. These include a portfolio of pertinent comparative effectiveness oriented activities, including: PCORI funded research projects, a newly funded CTSA (Translational Science Institute), a newly funded Duke Endowment project seeking to integrate health system data across two states (Carolinas Collaborative), a large dedicated health research & analytic group (Public Health Sciences) and a cadre of translational clinical investigators. In addition, the Center will interact with other institutional research centers including the Sticht Center on Aging, Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine, the Diabetes Center, the Alzheimer''s Center, and the Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Director will work with colleagues from across the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to support its evolution as a learning healthcare system.

The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in a field related to health services research or comparative effectiveness research (PhD or MD) with significant leadership experience, national or international recognition for their research in health services research, comparative effectiveness research or a related discipline. The Director will report to the Dean of the School of Medicine. It is expected that the Director will maintain an active research portfolio.

Winston-Salem, with a population of approximately 220,000, is nestled in the northwestern region of North Carolina, within easy driving distance to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the beaches of North Carolina.
