Fairview Health Services seeks a Medical Director to lead five Community Hospitalist programs within the Fairview Medical Group. Hospitals included are: Maple Grove Hospital, Fairview Southdale Hospital, Fairview Ridges Hospital, Fairview Lakes Medical Center, and Fairview Northland Medical Center. The Medical Director is the accountable clinical leader of the assigned community hospitalist programs with day to day responsibilities including: clinical quality improvement, medical staff development, financial performance, physician engagement, patient experience, and overall system performance. Represents the community hospitalist service line in pertinent internal and external meetings. Coordinates with site and system administrative team on related matters.

Key responsibilities include:

Collaborate and work closely with Hospital VPMAs, Administrative Dyad Leads, Site Hospitalist Leads, Medical Group Site Clinical Leads, and Site Program Managers to assure that systems and processes that support the clinical encounter and the overall patient experience are performing at a high level of proficiency and consistency. Ensure that community, Fairview Medical Group and Hospital standards/guidlines of medical practice are maintained. Actively promoting the provision of quality health care and excellent patient service, to implement and execute system strategies within appropriate clinical units. Collaborate with Fairview System Service Lines to provide leadership to quality initiatives, service line strategy, and operational plans including execution of system service line strategies. Partner closely with nursing leadership. Supervise Site Hospitalist Leads and Fairview employed hospitalists througout the system. Manage a combination of clinical practice and leadership role. Expected to maintain an active clinical practice. Accountable for hospitalist services meeting targets for clinical quality, patient satisfaction, managing clinical efficiency, and reducing clinical variation. Accountable for hospitalist services meeting provider productivity and budget targets in partnership with the Administrative Dyad Lead and close collaboration with the Site Lead Hospitalists. Accountable for ongoing hospitalist recruitment and onboarding in partnership with the Administrative Dyad Lead and Site Lead Hospitalists. Work directly with site and system operational support and hospitalist administrator to ensure appropriate staffing is provided at all sites. In collaboration with system hospitalist administrator and/or hosptialist operational support is accountable operations of assigned hospitalist programs to achieve performance targets/metrics.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum preferred experience of five years in clinical or hospital practice. Demonstrated leadership and objectivity. Active in medical and patient communities. Strong interpersonal skills. Collaborative work style. Ability to serve as diplomat; mentor and motivator. Strong communication skills including: verbal, written, and listening. Ability to lead by example. Driver of innovation. Prior clinical leadership experience preferred.
