The Chief of Staff serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (TETRAD) of the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC and promotes an environment of interdisciplinary patient-centered medical excellence.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Monitors and ensures medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, VA facility policies, Joint Commission standards and other appropriate regulations and creates an environment of system oriented continuous quality improvement, within which programs and quality of care effectiveness are evaluated. Monitor resource utilization and allocation and make recommendations for improvement in efficiency and service delivery.
    • Promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging self-assessment.
    • Monitors and promotes ethical conduct, quality of care, and customer service practices.
    • Works to enhance and expand facility programs that reflect the mission and priorities of the VA and patient care needs.
    • Recruits and retains certified licensed professional staff, who are graduates of approved medical schools and ensures that appropriate staff practitioners are credentialed and privileged in accordance with VA and Joint Commission requirements.
    • Develops and presents the budgetary requirements of the clinical services and assists in the formulation of the annual budget program.
    • Works to ensure local programs reflect the missions and priorities of the VHA and VA.
    • Takes an active role as a management team member, providing advice and counsel in defining and accomplishing the facility's missions and goals.
    • Provide patient care in alignment with granted privileges.
    • Directs the medical staff governance, by-laws, and credentialing and privileging.
    • Completes performance evaluations of assigned service line managers and clinical service chiefs.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00 am  -  4:30 pm - extended hours as required.
