This is a rewarding career opportunity for a physician to provide leadership for a medical hospitalist team at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Responsibilities include participating in managerial level planning and execution of the medical center's hospitalist services as well as participating in meetings with hospital management, medical staff, and clinical staff. Responsible for program oversight, performing history and physical exams for both the hospitalist service and for the private attending staff (as requested). Will provide cross coverage as needed/requested by nursing and medical staff. Perform consultations on psychiatric patients. Round on assigned medical hospitalist patients and on patients as requested by facility medical staff. Compliant with all facility and MDICS quality initiatives. Supervise employed physicians and mid-level providers.

Essential Job Functions:

Excellent leadership, management and clinical skills;

Promote appropriate standards of care on behalf of employed hospitalist physicians by developing professional standards, practice guidelines, and programs to monitor and improve the quality of care;

Collaborate with Emergency Department Medical Director in the planning and execution of day-to-day co-management of patients evaluated and admitted via the Emergency Department; Attend Case Management, Pharmacy & Therapeutic, Medical Staff Performance Assessment, and other meetings routinely to represent the hospitalist service;

Make sound recommendations for performance and quality improvement based on experience and available statistical information as related, but not limited to patient satisfaction, length of stay, readmission rates, and collection of billing and coding data;

Frequently consult with the COO, CMO, hospitalist administrator, and other management staff regarding qualifications, training needs, and performance of non-physician personnel working in or with the Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Observation, and Emergency Departments;

Participate in the development and review of capital and operating budgets, and submission of recommendations concerning space and other resource needs of the hospitalist service;

Provide clinical cross coverage and support for hospitalist team as requested; Willingness to motivate the team and implement positive changes;

Submit accurate and timely charges for all professional services performed.
