#4651 Physician - Clinical Lead

California State University, East Bay is hiring a Physician – Clinical Lead. The Clinical Lead oversees the daily operational and administrative needs of the Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS). The incumbent will perform medical diagnostic and treatment activities, oversee the medical services and practitioner peer review, chair the Quality Improvement Committee and supervise the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacist. The incumbent will also represent the providers in SHCS and campus-wide committees and assist SHCS in its on-going preparation for re-accreditation and HIPAA compliance as well as provide health education and participate in teaching activities.The incumbent will have regular contact with blood, blood products and bodily fluids as well as communicable diseases. Also, the incumbent will have some contact with physical and chemical hazardous materials, such as liquid nitrogen, TCA, etc. and routine exposure to needles and sharp objects. The incumbent must be able to respond to on-campus medical emergencies which may require walking outdoors several blocks carrying medical equipment or driving a minivan.

Responsibilities:
Provide a full range of outpatient medical care to CSUEB students, including basic health care and some augmented health services:
* Examine, diagnose and treat general medical problems.
* Evaluate complex medical problems, order special tests as indicated; carry out special examinations based on training.
* Interpret relevant laboratory results, electrocardiograms and initial x-ray results.
* Provide internal medicine consultation to nurses, nurse practitioners, and other staff physicians, as requested.
* Provide leadership and consultation as needed in such areas as preventive medicine, health education, environmental health and safety and emergency preparedness.
* Refer patients to in-house and community consultants and other medical facilities for medical problems beyond the scope of services of the SHCS and provide follow-up care as appropriate.
* Collaborate with management on how to best meet the health care needs of CSUEB.

Oversee day-to-day operational and administrative issues of medical services in the SHCS:
* Chair Quality Improvement Committee and oversee and participate in practitioner peer review.
* Supervise Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists and on-call Physicians. * Serve as the manager of Laboratory and X-Ray services.
* Oversee medical services including practitioner schedules.* Serve on SHCS and University-wide committees, as assigned.
* Provide leadership for special projects, as assigned.* Represent providers in campus outreach.
* Assist SHCS in its on-going preparation for re-accreditation.
* Assist SHCS in becoming HIPAA compliant and maintaining compliance.
* Provide health education and participate in teaching activities. Coordinate and provide class lectures, e.g., GS1010 and Health Sciences, student group presentations, employee and campus community in-service training on health-related issues.
* Assist in medical emergencies and provide first aid care to all students, employees and visitors of CSUEB.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the AVP, Student Support & Development, and Director of SHCS.
