Job Details

The Medicus Firm has been retained by a major teaching hospital in the Northeast to conduct a national search for a next generation physician leader to direct the Hospitalist Division for the Department of Medicine. The Chief of Hospital Medicine will provide leadership and oversight of a very busy and robust clinical service (100 FTE hospitalists) for the system's five hospitals.
  • The selected candidate will be an innovative program builder and a systems thinker, comfortable working in a matrixed organization and have a collaborative leadership style.
  • The selected candidate will be a mission driven leader, whose primary area of focus is leading and advancing the performance of the Hospitalist department, achieving designated goals in quality of care, patient safety, and patient experience through continuous performance improvement
  • He/she will preside over a productive academic enterprise to include advanced training (e.g. fellowship) opportunities for hospitalists and APCs
  • Prospective candidates will be board certified in internal medicine and have at least five years of experience post-training with evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership role(s) in a large, multi-hospital community setting or academic hospital setting.
  • The physician led 900+ bed medical system trains 100 new residents and fellows, 150 medical students, 1,200 nursing students and 400 allied health students every year.
