Geisinger Health System is seeking a Director of Research, Geisinger-Northeast (GNE), for the northeastern Pennsylvania region of the health system. Geisinger is a physician-led system dedicated to healthcare, education, research, and service. The Director of Research, GNE will be responsible, in conjunction with GNE leadership and the Chief Scientific Officer, for overseeing all research conducted in the Northeast and for supervising core resources. About the Position: The Director of Research, GNE is responsible for the design anddevelopment of a major expansion of the research programs in the Northeast in keeping with the Research Strategic Plan and reflecting the population health concerns of the region. Areas of potential focus are broad, including clinical, translational, and implementation sciences. Given Geisinger's patient population, electronic health record and system-wide biobanking, research in health services, comparative effectiveness, outcomes, genomics, and biomarkers is particularly encouraged. Areas of clinical strength with large patient populations include obesity, oncology, cardiovascular disease, women's health, orthopedics, neurosciences, and numerous surgical specialties. The candidate will work with GNE leadership, the Chief Scientific Officer, and clinical and research leaders to develop a vision for research in theNortheast, recruit and mentor clinical investigators, and create research programs in areas of clinical strength within the system. Job Requirements: MD or DO degree with board certification; Mid-career or senior clinician investigator with an established track record of competitive research funding (e.g., NIH, CDC, HRSA, AHRQ); Record of innovation and collaboration; Experience mentoring; and 3-5 years of management or administrative experience preferred.
