PeaceHealth is seeking a Physician - Psychiatry (Inpatient) based in the Bellingham community.

The Behavioral Health Inpatient Center is a 20-bed, state-of-the-art, inpatient unit located on the main campus of St. Joseph Medical Center. Our team helps people in need of psychiatric care in a healing and supportive environment.
We are the only inpatient unit for behavioral health clients in Whatcom County that offers acute stabilization (care to return a patient to a point where they are no longer at risk of harm to themselves or others, or able to be maintained in a lesser intense environment), treatment and referral services. We also serve Friday Harbor Clinic, mostly via telemedicine. In the future, we may be serving Ketchikan and United General, mostly via telemedicine.
Our Behavioral Health Inpatient Center is a state-designated evaluation and treatment center. We treat both voluntary and involuntary adults with psychiatric illness who need a program that allows them to stay at a hospital.
Clinical services include:
* Medication management
* Milieu therapy (group therapy in a controlled environment)
* Nursing care
* Nutritional therapy
* Occupational therapy is available by referral to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Occupational Therapy Services
* Psychiatric assessment, evaluation and treatment
* History and physical taken by a physician
* Recreational therapy assessment and treatment
* Social work assessment and discharge planning
A 5.5 million dollar renovation of the inpatient unit took place in 2010.
REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
* Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
* Successful completion of Internship/Residency Program in area of specialty.
L icense/Certification:
* Licensed to practice as a Physician or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington or ability to obtain licensure within 3 months.
* Board Certified/Board Eligible.
* Federal DEA Number.
* Current BLS required.
Special Skill/Demands:
* EMR experience desired.
* Able to work varied hours; on-call and call-back schedule.
* Must not be a practitioner excluded from participation in the Medicare or Medicaid program.
* Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
