With a strong commitment to raising the bar for healthcare in our community, Nassau University Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center and a 530-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Northwell Health and Stony Brook University. NUMC is a Department of Health certified primary stroke center and has consistently achieved the Gold Plus award from Get with Guidelines.

We are currently seeking a well-qualified full-time leader to serve as Chair for the Department of Neurology. The Chair will provide leadership and direction of the Department consistent with the strategic planning of the NUMC for expert, insightful thinking and planning to steer department with dynamics of current health care challenges. Chair will also provide leadership in evaluation and management of a variety of adult and pediatric neurological conditions.  

Minimum qualifications include an MD/DO degree with Board Certification in neurology, a distinguished record of research accomplishment, a strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and diversity, and clear demonstration of the qualities needed to lead and manage a multifaceted academic department in the 21st century.

Our neurologists provide inpatient consultation and outpatient care to all neurological conditions such as Stroke, epilepsy, TBI, Movement disorders, and comprehensive pediatric neurology management to children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, epilepsy, neuromuscular disease. Department also has a Neurodiagnostic laboratory with a full-time EEG technician. Our operating room is a state-of-the-art facility that’s fully equipped to support intricate surgery on both the brain and the spine with a full-time neurosurgical support team.

NUMC has training programs in various fields to include Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry. Residents and fellows from various disciplines rotate and interact with our neurologists. Students from SUNY Stony Brook, NYCOM, and AUC rotate through our neurology department. Our faculty has teaching appointments with the above schools.
