As a Physician (Radiology), your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Prevision of Direct Patient Care/Technical Requirements:

Obtain history for general radiographic diagnoses, carrying out appropriate physical examinations, obtaining indicated laboratory test results, and assessing the severity of illness. Provide full formal counseling with patients, thoroughly documenting all aspects of the encounter in the Medical Treatment Record. Provide follow-up as indicated. Consult with referring physicians to provide results of studies and tests as necessary.

Oversees radiographic examination, ensuring the correct radiographic procedures are conducted, relating the symptom(s) to the pain/illness of the patient.

The incumbent has patient responsibility within the Department when patients are present for examination, including overall supervision of critically ill patients and provisions for critically ill patients and provision for emergency treatment and resuscitative measures, when necessary.

Provide consultation, reporting the radiologic diagnostics examination, delivering interpretation of the study and the diagnoses of x-ray to the clinician. Reevaluates incoming studies of patients being transferred from Regional Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to determine accuracy of diagnoses. Recommends and directs the care and treatment of the patient. 

Consults with the requesting physician before a procedure is done, deciding on procedure and ensuring the minimization of the invasion of the patient. Consult with the surgeon in planning the surgical plan approach.

Obtains consultation, provides referral, both within the department and with other medical elements within CRDAMC, when required by the patients’ condition with other staff radiologist clinicians, residents, fellows, technologists, and nurses as required.

Accomplishes special quality assurance studies, utilization review, risk management and peer review activities in accordance with schedules established by the Chief, Department of Radiology. Provide advice, professional opinions and written technical studies and professional review upon request by the Chief, Department of Radiology in support of the various boards and committees within CRDAMC involved with evaluation of patient care and treatment. The incumbent may be required to attend Department or Hospital board committee meetings in accordance with schedules established by the Chief, of Radiology.
Serves as a member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee, Credentials Committee and other health center committees as assigned.

As required and directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology will provide consultative services by telephone to Regional MTFs.

Performs emergency coverage duty (call) on a rotating schedule basis in an amount proportionate to the incumbent’s fractional share of the diagnostic radiologist staffing levels within the Department of Radiology, CRDAMC, and will include, but not be limited to, plain film radiologic examinations, Computerized Tomography, fluoroscopy studies, Ultrasound, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Responsible for submitting Diagnostic Radiology reports. These reports of diagnostic interpretations shall be submitted as dictation (on government furnished equipment), as directed in Department SOP by the Chief, Department of Radiology.

Provide technical direction for technicians and ancillary personnel in the Department in the performance of their duties. Investigates new procedures in the sub-specialty to improve or modify diagnostic capabilities.

2. Academic Requirements: Provides training in the specialty of Diagnostic Radiology to other Department physicians, Physician Assistants, Residents of other Departments, technologists, other CRDAMC staff members, and the medical students. Provide instruction in Radiology to these groups as needed. Provide regular scheduled academic lectures to other Radiology staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Employee will be required to work irregular shifts and provide emergency coverage, on an on-call basis, for night time, weekend and Federal Holidays. Employee will be available by cell phone contact during the on-call period. The radiologist is required to respond to the page within 15 minutes and be prepared to provide consultation or assistance within 60 minutes.

May include shift work or rotating shifts (evenings, weekends, holidays).

Basic Requirements:

US Citizenship is required

Child Care Background is required for this position in accordance with DODI 1402.5 (e) enclosure 5; memorandum dated March 6, 1992 Subject "Criminal History Background Checks on Employees in Child Care Services". Employees on this position are required to obtain and maintain a successful background check.

This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. incumbent is required to sign a da form 5019-r, and/or da form 7412 "condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program," or a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Current and valid Physician License (Board Certified), Board Certification as a Radiologist and Basic Life Support Certification.

 Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).

Must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training.

Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification. Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
