The Department of Surgery/Division of General Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks an academic general surgeon with a clinical focus in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery to join the division as Chief of Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery. This faculty position will be at the Associate/Full Professor level, in the Medical Center Line. We expect the successful candidate to develop a robust clinical practice while maintaining scholarly activity in health service research, education or a translational research program that closely aligns with their clinical focus.The candidate will also have significant teaching commitments to medical students, general surgery residents, and minimally invasive/bariatric fellows at Stanford University School of Medicine, and is expected to expand our minimally invasive and bariatric surgery programs.

• The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine.

Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD, be board eligible/certified in general surgery, and fellowship trained in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery or have an established practice in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery. It is expected the candidate will have substantial scholarly activity and will maintain an active clinical practice.
