Cleveland Clinic, one of the world's most distinguished academic medical centers,announces a search for the Department Chair, Inflammation & Immunity within theLerner Research Institute (LRI).

The Lerner Research Institute https://www.lerner.ccf.org/ is home to laboratory, translational and clinical research at Cleveland Clinic. With 170 independent fundamental laboratories, over 1500 employees, and research expenditures of $250 million per year, the Lerner Research Institute is at the forefront of discovery science, fosters translational research and accelerates innovation for patient care. The LRI is undergoing an exciting period of strategic expansion with major new initiatives including the Center for Therapeutics Discovery, the Center for Microbiome and Human Health, and a new enterprise-wide biorespository.

The Department of Inflammation and Immunity was recently created from the merger of the Departments of Pathobiology and Immunology to strategically focus on mechanisms of inflammation that drive human diseases, including digestive, lung, kidney and liver diseases. Research in the department aims to uncover cellular and molecular pathways of inflammation and immune system dysfunction in order to identify new therapeutic targets, and new approaches to transplant immunology. With 50 independent laboratories and nearly 300 members, the Department of Inflammation and Immunity is highly productive with over $30 million in annual research funding. The ideal candidate for this leadership position will be a recognized scientist with a distinguished career of accomplishments, leadership in biomedical research and eligible for the rank of Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Applicants should have an MD, PhD or equivalent degree. The position offers generous start-up funds and competitive resources to expand new areas of research in inflammation and immunity.
