 Fort Gordon is located near beautiful Augusta, Georgia. Two positions available in our Family Medicine Clinic. Day position, no call, limited Saturday clinic openings every other month. Works under the general technical and administrative supervision of the Chief, Department of Family Practice, who sets the overall objectives of the clinic. Having a significant level of professional development, incumbent is responsible for carrying out patient care for the full range of cases, including the very difficult, with very little or no technical guidance. Supervisor is available for consultation. Quality of health care provided will be monitored by the supervisor and the departmental and hospital Medical Care Evaluation Committees. The hospital commander will establish clinical privileges.Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) requiring participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment. A job offer to an applicant who is not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment. Applicants from such individuals shall not be considered for employment for a period of 6 months from the date of the test results. 2 MAR 2004 This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.

 Provides direct patient care to those individuals who present to a Family Practice Clinic (outlying clinic or hospital-based) or Troop Medical Clinic at Fort Gordon. Patient care includes: evaluation, examination, and diagnosis, ordering of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests, interpretation of the total medical evidence and instituting proper treatment to patient. Incumbent is assigned the full range of cases including the most difficult and urgent in pediatric, adult, or geriatric patients. He or she is responsible for determining when to seek advice and guidance. Symptoms are often abstruse, or there are overlapping symptoms due to the presence of more than one condition of ailment, or the symptoms might be indicative of either a simple or complicated condition, requiring complicated diagnostic and testing procedures. Considerable ingenuity is required in identifying these symptoms and developing a proper treatment regimen. 75% A professional knowledge consistent with the current state of the art of medicine and the ability to transform that knowledge into proper patient care is required.

 Incumbent must also hold a degree in Medicine or Osteopathy from an approved U.S. Medical School or such a degree from a foreign medical school in conjunction with evidence of successful passage of ECFMG or FLEX test, and a current license to practice in some State or Puerto Rico.

Must be Board certified/eligible in Family Practice or have equivalent training, experience or expertise. Operating within the policies and regulations of the hospital, facilitates patient access to medical care by appropriate referrals to other health care providers.

Renders consultative opinions to other physicians and auxiliary health care personnel. Supervises health care offered by non-physicians. 

Maintains health and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

AMENDMENT-CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing, unless currently occupying a TDP within the Department of Defense. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) requiring participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment.  A job offer to an applicant who is not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested.
