Position Description

Seattle, Washington - Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) and the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), both in Seattle, Washington, are jointly recruiting an accomplished physician investigator to lead their combined early phase clinical trials program. The role includes medical directorship of the Robert and Jean Reid Family Innovative Therapeutics and Research Unit based at SCI, and an academic appointment at ISB. This is a full-time position, requiring board certification in hematology and/or medical oncology. The program leader will be responsible for the integration of novel clinical trials, specifically early-phase clinical trials, focusing on targeted therapies, to include immune system directed therapies, within the framework of SCI’s personalized medicine platform. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the design and conduct of early phase therapeutic trials as well as in translational research and molecular oncology, being recognized as a national/international leader, or emerging leader in modern cancer therapeutic development, to include immuno-oncology, along with a record of successful grant and/or contract support for clinical research. This position, while translational, is anticipated to be clinically based, with pre-clinical collaborations through the ISB. A wet lab effort at the ISB that supports the translational program can be part of the candidate's role. A disease site focus is encouraged. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a strong record of superb patient care, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and high emotional intelligence.

Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and an outstanding quality of life are just a few of the defining features of this opportunity.

The ISB is a premier biology and biomedical research institute, located in the South Lake Union district of Seattle. The ISB was founded in 1999 by Leroy Hood, and has pioneered the development and application of high throughput biology and computational tools for addressing challenging problems in cancer and other diseases. The ISB and SCI are partnered through a joint relationship with Providence St. Joseph's Health.
