SUMMARY

As a member of the Rochester Regional Health Senior Leadership Team the Gastroenterology System lead physician will have broad responsibilities to lead the strategic, clinical and operational activities of his/her division within the context of system goals & priorities. The lead physician works with a diverse group of key stakeholders, including system administrative and physician leaders to expand, improve and strengthen the Service line operations, functions, programs and integrated clinics/practice settings across the health system. The lead physician is responsible to set standards and expectations of GI quality, patient safety and other important outcomes. The lead physician ensures that all system endoscopy units is and clinical service line activities are compliant with all regulatory body requirements.

The lead physician must exemplify emotional maturity in his/her behavior and hold all division members to the same standard.

Reporting Relationships

The position will have a direct reporting relationship to the System Medicine and Surgery Senior Vice President.  As  Rochester Regional affiliate Chairs and hospital presidents have significant leadership responsibilities over affiliate departmental functions and clinical service line development this position will have accountability to affiliate Department Chairs and hospital presidents to regularly inform, secure input and approvals as needed regarding specialty service-line activities to ensure alignment in matters including but not limited to strategic planning, program development, teaching and operational financial performance. 

Affiliate division chiefs with their local chairs of medicine will continue their role in application of peer review, credentialing, and education.
