The Department of Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center is seeking a Division Director of Critical Care. The director will be expected to lead the division in a manner that contributes to the successful mission of Hackensack University Medical Center, the Hackensack Meridian Health System, and the Seton Hall – Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
The director will provide clinical and administrative physician leadership for critical care initiatives and operations across the institution related to improving patient care quality, access and efficiency, end-of-life and palliative care, and education and training activities. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine.
Ideal candidates must have academic accomplishments that would merit the rank of Associate or Professor in the School of Medicine, strong and successful leadership experience in managing clinical operations and physicians, proven ability to bridge collaborative efforts across departments and institutions, excellent clinical skills, excellent teaching skills, proven commitment to supporting research in bench science, successful experience in mentoring, the ability to recruit and retain faculty, demonstrated administrative and managerial skills and the oversight of budgets. In addition, must have training and board certification in internal medicine and critical care and be able to obtain professional licensure in the State of New Jersey
Job Functions:
- Direct and innovate with regard to clinical care, quality, and operations in the 24 hour, 7 days a week critical care services provided by the Department of Medicine. Provide leadership to collaborate in developing a critical care program across all critical care services at HUMC. Provide leadership and mentoring for critical care physicians and advanced practice personnel in the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Medicine with regard to clinical and academic activities. Develop strong collaborative relationships with nursing leadership for critical care, as well as the nursing managers in the MICU/CCU and teamwork between medicine, trainees, nursing staff and allied health staff. Create and enhance training and academic programs in critical care at the School of Medicine and the hospital for trainees at all levels. Oversee the educational and training activities in critical care medicine provided for internal medicine residents, medical students, NP fellows, and fellows. Participate in administrative roles within the Department of Medicine at the hospital and School of Medicine. Participate/lead in directing the development of an e-ICU program within the HMH network.
