Co-Program Leader, Cancer Biology and Director of Experimental Therapeutics - University of Hawaii Cancer Center (NCI Designated Cancer Center)- Position #82954

The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC) seeks mid-level to senior clinical faculty with significant experience in laboratory research program in the area of cancer biology, biomarker or drug development in colorectal, hepatobiliary or pancreatic research, for example contribute to the selection of discovery compounds, development of clinical strategy, and transition of compounds into early phase development. This position includes 80% protected time for basic or translational research, and will be expected to maintain some clinical activity. The successful candidate is expected to perform professional and scientific research in the areas of basic cancer biology with a focus on bench to bedside translation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assume a leadership role in the Cancer Center as co-Program Leader for Cancer Biology. He/she will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in the CB Program at UHCC and within the larger University of Hawaii system. The successful candidate should have recent history of or current history of independent line of investigation that is competitive for national peer-reviewed grants such as from the National Cancer Institute. Candidates should be able and willing to supervise PhD and MS research students and to participate in graduate level teaching.

Qualified candidates should have a MD or DO or equivalent degree with a strong record of independent scientific accomplishments, and a solid evidence of a sustained, R-type extramural funding base. The successful applicant will be provided with a highly competitive package of laboratory space in the new 150,000 sq.ft. building, start-up funding, and salary.
