The Division of Nephrology of NY Medical College/Westchester Medical Center is seeking to expand, and seeks a candidate with experience/interest in clinical research who will also participate in the teaching and research activities of the nephrology fellowship program at a major academic medical center in the NY metropolitan area.
The candidate will participate in teaching, supervision, and clinical care activities of the division, including the nephrology fellowship and internal medicine residencies, as well as contributing to regular didactic lectures and conferences. The candidate will be expected to initiate, continue, and oversee clinical research projects involving nephrology fellows and assist in developing presentations, authoring publications of research results, and assisting fellows in producing case reports and clinical reviews of applicable topics. Protected research time will be available. Training in the conduct of clinical research and demonstrated productivity in obtaining clinical research grants and conducting such activities is preferable.
Westchester Medical Center is a quaternary care environment serving the Hudson Valley in NY and has one of the highest case mix acuity indices in the US. The division of nephrology interfaces with the heart, liver, and kidney transplant program, trauma, surgical, cardiothoracic, and medical ICUs, bone marrow transplant and heart failure programs, as well as general inpatient and outpatient services. These interactions provide excellent opportunities to explore renal disease in a wide variety of acutely and chronically ill patients.
The Division of Nephrology is a dynamic, academic department with a fellowship program and nine faculty members.
Job Requirements
- Applicants must have an MD or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and clinical care (clinical nephrology, dialysis, transplant). BC/BE. In addition, it would be very competitive for the candidate to have a history of competitive grant funding and publication in the clinical research arena.
- Appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and candidate must have credentials to qualify for such appointment.
- Responsibilities include teaching, attending on the renal inpatient consult service, rounding on dialysis outpatients, seeing outpatients and supervising fellows in same, and clinical research.
- It is preferable that the candidate be able to start no later than July, 2018, and make a long-term commitment to the program. The candidate must have good written and verbal skills.
