                                This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

This position will be located at Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, Primary Care Clinic, Fort Drum, NY. Recruitment or relocation bonus may be authorized.

Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division, is located in Northern New York's picturesque North County, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Licensed physician having completed residency training in Pediatrics and be board certified or board eligible.

As a Physician (Pediatrics) your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct physical examinations of infants and children.
  • Determine the need for, and interpret, x-ray (radiography) examinations or laboratory tests.
  • Perform emergency treatment in cases of serious injury or illness and recommend arrangements for hospitalization and surgery.
  • Refer patients when indicated for diagnostic testing and specialty consultation.
  • Assign work to subordinates, develop performance plans, interview candidates for subordinate positions and provide and/or arrange for needed development and training.

US Citizenship Required

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.  Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).


  Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training.


  Licensure/Certification: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

A Childcare Background Check (CNACI) is required. This position has a specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require contact with children.
