About this position. We are recruiting board certified Physician (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatric Medicine) positions to serve as Locum (PRN) Physician who work in the place of the regular Medical Officers who are absent, or when a clinic is short-staffed. No regular work schedule or work guaranteed. These positions report to the Chief Medical Officer in the Portland Area Office located in Portland, Oregon. The duty station is Portland, Oregon; however, based on the need of the health centers, incumbent(s) will be assigned to any of the Federal Indian Health Service Units in Idaho, Washington or Oregon.

The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3.
