The McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia will soon be breaking ground for a new Cancer Center building to provide patients with multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. The successful candidate will provide administrative oversight and be closely involved in the hiring of essential staff and the overall direction and growth of the Center. Applicants should be mid/senior career level physician-scientists interested in building a strong, academically oriented clinical care program. Candidates with an interest in any cancer-related subspecialty will be considered, including medical oncology, urology, otolaryngology, pulmonology, surgical pathology, and surgery. The Director is expected to have an appointment at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and to hold membership in and work to facilitate collaborations with the National Cancer Institute-designated VCU Massey Cancer Center faculty. The ideal candidate should also have a successful laboratory, translational, and/or clinical research program and robust history of extramural funding. A generous start-up package as well as laboratory space, as needed, will be provided. While the major efforts of the Director will be administrative and research, involvement in the training of residents and fellows is encouraged.
