Loma Linda University Department of Medicine and Faculty Medical Group have immediate openings for full-time faculty candidates in the Infectious Diseases Division. Qualified candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Infectious Diseases. We welcome the application of Fellows and experienced physicians.

Available Positions

Job Descriptions are flexible and will be tailored to the candidates’ skills and interests. At present, all positions are primarily clinical.

Transplant Infectious Diseases

  • 0.5-1.0 FTE position. This position can be combined with 0.5 FTE Stewardship, 0.5 FTE General ID, or an outpatient clinic emphasis. The candidate may focus on SOT or HSCT, or both, which will determine whether 0.5 or 1.0 FTE is dedicated to Transplant ID. We prefer hiring two persons, each dedicated 0.5 FTE to transplant.
  • Potential roles
  • Reviewing and vetting pre- and post-transplant preventative and treatment  protocols
  • Inpatient consultations on transplant infections
  • Screening transplant patients admitted to non-transplant services
  • Internal Quality reviews
  • Process improvement
  • Education of Hospitalists admitting transplanted patients
  • Stewardship education for Transplant Surgeons, Internists, and mid-level providers.
  • Candidates, regardless of formal job description or division of labor, must demonstrate a passion for Antimicrobial Stewardship.
  • Call is 1 in 4 to 1 in 6 weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participation in student, resident, and graduate school education. 

Antimicrobial Stewardship

  • 0.5 FTE position combined with 0.5 FTE Transplant or 0.5 FTE General ID, Employee Health, or outpatient clinic emphasis
  • Clinical consults
  • Patients on restricted drugs, those exceeding allowed duration, those with a history of C. diff receiving antibiotics, those being evaluated for MFT, etc.
  • Internal Quality reviews
  • Once the candidate’s reputation among colleagues and Hospital Administration is established (3-5 years), the position can grow to 1.0 FTE which includes Stewardship Administration and Leadership.
  • Call is 1 in 4 to 1 in 6 weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participation in student, resident, and graduate school education. 

General Infectious Diseases

  • 80-90% Inpatient consultation in General Infectious Diseases with outpatient clinic involvement (1-4 clinics/month). 
  • Antibiotic education and control: a division-wide responsibility
  • Like the Stewardship and Transplant positions, time can be divided between Transplant-General, Transplant-Stewardship
  • Call is 1 in 4 to 1 in 6 weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participation in student, resident, and graduate school education.

Loma Linda University Faculty Physicians and Surgeons is a faith-based multispecialty medical group affiliated with the Loma Linda University School of Medicine and Loma Linda University Medical Center. 

This setting is a stimulating clinical and educational environment, with opportunities for general medical and Global Health education. Loma Linda University School of Medicine alumni have a long history of international service, thus, the University is affiliated with numerous international service sites. Our campus includes a Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness, and a Global Health Institute. In this vein, the Infectious Diseases Division is involved in mentoring and managing the Tropical Medicine Elective, the Global Service Pathway, the HIV Pathway, and the International elective.

The Medical Center serves as the largest tertiary referral source in both Riverside and San Bernardino counties with a surrounding population approaching 4 million. Loma Linda University’s Medical Center and Children’s Hospital is the only Level I Trauma Center serving a four-county area that covers approximately 25 percent of the state.

Loma Linda is located between Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Nestled at the foot of the San Bernardino mountains, we have convenient access to beach cities, skiing, hiking, and a variety of other outdoor activities. This region also has excellent private and public school systems.
