Boston and the Boston Suburbs – Multiple Clinical Settings from Which to Choose

VA Boston Healthcare System – Veterans Health Administration

Primary care at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is being redesigned to provide proactive, personalized, and patient-driven care to optimize health status and promote healthy living. Locations include Quincy, Lowell, Framingham, West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Brockton, and Plymouth, or you can opt to float among more than one location. The VA Boston Healthcare System's Primary and Ambulatory Care Service, affiliated with a large Department of Medicine, has academic affiliations with several Boston training programs.

Primary Care Providers (PCPs) manage a complex panel of patients, providing comprehensive medical care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management. PCPs deliver care within Patient Aligned Care teams where each patient has longitudinal relationships with their PCP and care team. Larger practices have integrated behavioral health, clinical pharmacists, dieticians, and social workers. Panel sizes are approximately 1,200 patients per full-time physician and appointment lengths are 60 minutes for new patients and 30 minutes for all other appointments. Providers are trained in patient-centered communication skills. Complementary and integrative therapies are increasingly available.

Discover what it’s like to enjoy the professional and personal satisfaction of caring for Veterans in an exciting location while enjoying a work/life balance that is increasingly rare in today’s healthcare environment. You'll find the VABHS has a lot to offer, including the unmatched satisfaction you'll get from caring for those who have served our country.

In addition to competitive pay and liability protection, you’ll also enjoy a robust benefits plan including 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 10 federal holidays, five possible CME days, health and life insurance plans, Flexible Spending, and Long-term Care insurance. Added to these benefits is a 3-tier retirement system comprised of the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS), Thrift Savings Plan (similar to a 401K), and Social Security benefits. For more detailed information on federal benefit offerings, visit: www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance .

Interested applicants can send CV and cover letter to Don Rainwater at: don.rainwater@va.gov.
