The Icahn School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness and substance use disorders. We are ranked #6 nationally in NIH funding, and listed as one of the top regional hospital departments by U.S. News & World Report. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical behavioral health services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West, and Mount Sinai Queens. We have over 350 inpatient behavioral health beds and four psychiatric emergency locations (CPEP/Psych ED), and had over 1 million ambulatory behavioral health visits in 2017.

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking exceptional and talented psychiatrists to join our inpatient, emergency psychiatry, and outpatient behavioral health services. All locations serve as major teaching sites for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. All sites also have innovative pilots and new programs underway to connect patients to an array of community and crisis services supports. Opportunities to participate in these innovative service delivery and clinical care pilots are available at all sites. Candidates with a strong background in geriatric psychiatry and/or expertise in caring for medically complex patients are strongly preferred. Spanish-speaking highly desired. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai faculty appointment commensurate with experience. Positions are available in July 2018 (earlier is possible). 

Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist.
  • Possess NYS license to practice medicine.
  • Inpatient/Emergency Psychiatry positions: at least one-year post-residency experience in acute care service preferred.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills required.
  • Must possess highly collaborative and proactive approach, and demonstrate commitment to high-quality, cost-effective health care.
  • A strong work ethic and desire to participate in and grow a team-oriented, performance-driven department
  • Qualifications for Assistant Professor or higher level required.
