Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is currently seeking a service chief of international stature to lead the Pediatric Solid Tumor service in the Department of Pediatrics. With over 800 new patients, including over 350 new solid tumor patients seen each year, the Department of Pediatrics is the largest pediatric oncology program in the nation. The ideal candidate must have a vision that builds upon a long tradition of innovation and excellence to further improve outcomes for children with solid tumors. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated record of clinical excellence and expertise in translational and clinical research. The Chief will also work closely with members of other departments, services, and centers to foster a culture of outstanding patient-centered care. Candidates must have a strong record of achievement as a clinician-investigator in the field of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and must possess an MD, board certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, and eligibility for medical licensure in New York State. Applicants should be experienced in investigator-initiated clinical trials, in mentoring junior faculty, and have a demonstrated record of academic accomplishment, including relevant, peer-reviewed publications, external funding and/or strong potential to establish an independent line of research. The candidate will ideally possess internationally recognized expertise in cancer genomics and the application of molecularly-targeted therapeutic agents to pediatric solid tumors. The successful candidate should have a vision about how to leverage areas of existing strength at MSK (genomics, cellular therapies, immuno-oncology, developmental therapeutics, cancer surgery, radiation oncology) and new recruitments that will empower innovations for patients requiring cross-modality treatment for pediatric solid tumors. The Chief will work closely with the Chair as part of the departmental leadership team, including with other Chiefs of Service (Hematologic Malignancies, Stem Cell Transplantation, Neuro-Oncology). This full-time position provides a unique opportunity for a blend of leadership, patient care, teaching/fellowship training, research, and program development. This search is open to potential faculty at senior levels of career experience. Appointments will be made at an academic level commensurate with the appointee's experience.
