The Department of Surgery at VA Boston Health Care System (VABHCS) is soliciting applications for the position of Chief of the Section of general thoracic surgery.
VABHS is the major tertiary referral center for veterans from throughout New England and is strongly affiliated with Harvard Medical School (HMS), Boston University (BU), and the general thoracic division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Candidates should have an outstanding academic record and the ability to lead clinical, research, and training programs. Proficiency in minimally invasive thoracic and esophageal surgery is mandatory and experience in lung transplant is highly desirable.
Appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School (HMS) will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements, in addition to teaching activities.
Suitable candidates must have an MD or an MD-PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Candidates must have completed an American Board of Thoracic Surgery approved residency training, or equivalent, preferably with emphasis in general thoracic surgery and be board certified in Thoracic Surgery. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
Compensation will be competitive with the major academic centers in the region.
