PERINATOLOGIST - PER DIEM

Perinatologist works collaboratively with the health care team in obstetrics. As an expert in perinatology and acute care management, he/she will provide care in the clinic, inpatient unit, and the perinatology ultrasound area. He/she will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for pregnant women. In collaboration with OB physicians, this physician will manage the high risk pregnancies. Job functions also include performance improvement activities, meeting productivity standards and teaching. He/she will demonstrate proficiency in working with the designated patient population, and serve as a resource and teacher throughout the organization and in the community.

Responsibilities
- 1.Provide on-site consultation, which includes medical and obstetrical complications that impact on the pregnancy. Perform amniocentesis and CVS on high-risk candidates, including multiple gestation as requested by the bstetrician. Review biophysical profiles completed by Greenwich Hospital ultrasound. Collaborate with the genetic services. Provide antenatal care for obstetrical patients in the clinic. Work in conjunction with the neonatal department to increase present capabilities by providing a uniform approach to the care and treatment of the high-risk mother and her infant. Work in conjunction with perinatal clinical specialists to provide diabetic counseling to patient's peripartum. Coordinate Perinatal Safety Committee
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited medical school with Board certification in Perinatology (or Board eligible.)
EXPERIENCE
2 years
LICENSURE
Licensed as a MD in Connecticut
SPECIAL SKILLS
High Risk pregnancy-2 years Perinatology. Level III ultrasound management. Diabetes/HELLP and pre-eclampsia management etc.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged.
