The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Rheumatologist to join our rheumatology faculty group. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching, and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately 80 faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of 200 and approximately 100 post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine, and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of activities. Primary clinical responsibilities of the position include patient care in a variety of settings including inpatient consultations at Children's Hospital of New Orleans and other local hospitals as well as outpatient rheumatology clinics. Educational responsibilities include supervision and instruction of medical students, residents, and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center.
The Department of Pediatrics is located predominantly at Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Children’s Hospital is Louisiana’s only free-standing children’s hospital. The 247-bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s is in the beginning stages of a five-year and $225 million expansion project.
Qualifications
- MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
- Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana by start date
