STAFF POSITION IN MEDICAL ONCOLOGY

SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO

The University of New Mexico NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) is seeking an ambitious physician with training and expertise in medical oncology and a focused interest in the treatment and management of patients with various malignancies to provide excellent patient care to serve the population of Silver City, New Mexico. Successful applicants will be expected to serve as a reference expert clinician and clinical-investigator and to provide care in outpatient clinics and interact seamlessly with Hospitalists at GRMC in the consultation and treatment of patients. A full complement of support staff such as a dedicated mid-level provider, and nurse/operations manager will be part of the supporting structure for this position. The successful applicants will have fellowship training and experience in the clinical care of various cancers and a strong interest in the development and conduct of clinical trials. Excellent salaries and sign-on bonus available.

Minimum qualifications include: 1) MD or equivalent with board certification in Internal Medicine; 2) Board certification/eligibility in Medical Oncology; 3) At least two years of hematology/oncology fellowship; and 4) Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (J-1 visa applicants will be considered). Preferred qualifications include: 1) Experience in cancer clinical trial design; 2) Experience in resident/fellow education; and 3) Experience in clinical and translational research.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) is the Official Cancer Center of State of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center within a 500-mile radius. Through its formal consortium partners (Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute), the UNMCCC integrates advanced computational, imaging, radioisotope, nanotechnology, and drug discovery capabilities into its innovative and rich scientific environment.
