The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital – Northwell Health is inviting applications for a clinically focused academically oriented cytopathologist/surgical pathologist to direct the cytopathology service at Lenox Hill Hospital.  At least 5 years of clinical experience and demonstrated leadership skills are preferred.  The candidate will join 11 surgical pathologists, 4 of whom share in the cytopathology service located at the main campus at Lenox Hill Hospital.  The successful candidate will dedicate approximately 50% of their time on each of the cytopathology and surgical pathology services.  Eligible candidates must be board certified in Cytopathology and Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. 

Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH), established in 1857, is a 652-bed acute care hospital located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, and has earned a national reputation for outstanding patient care and innovative medical and surgical treatments.  As part of the Northwell Health system efforts, cancer services are growing rapidly at LHH.  The hospital is a recognized leader in public health education and community outreach and has a national reputation for providing excellent medical care and medical education.  The Pathology Department serves Lenox Hill Hospital’s main campus, as well as Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Lenox Health Greenwich Village, an emergency and ambulatory care facility located in Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan.  LHH has a well-established AP/CP residency training program with 8 residents and one surgical pathology fellow.  LHH’s pathology service handles approximately 1,000,000 clinical laboratory specimens, 25,000 surgical cases and 5,000 cytology cases annually, and has a growing surgical and cytopathology outreach program.  LHH is easily accessible by subway and enjoys proximity to the diverse and rich cultural offerings New York City has to offer.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
