The Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, at Stanford University is seeking an investigator with a successful record of laboratory or translational research to fill a new position at the Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System. Faculty appointment at Stanford will be on the University Tenure Line or Medical Center Line, and the successful candidate should be an accomplished physician investigator, with a national/international reputation for more senior candidates. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Established investigators in the areas of immunology, cell or molecular biology, or genetics relevant to renal disease are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to become an important mentor for postdoctoral fellows and to participate in the teaching programs of the Division of Nephrology and the Department of Medicine. A contribution to the clinical program including a clinic each week and limited inpatient attending duties is envisaged. The candidate must hold an MD and be board certified in Nephrology, possess or be able to obtain a California medical license, and be qualified for appointment to a faculty position at Stanford University.

Rank and salary will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
