Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, CO is recruiting for a full time Medical Director of our Hospital Care Management team.   The ideal candidate will be board certified in Internal or Emergency Medicine.  This position will provide leadership, direction, and administration for Hospital Care Management (HCM), Clinical Care Management utilization management, to the physician utilization management advisor (PUMA) team and to the Clinical documentation integrity (CDI) department. Clinical Care Management is a collaborative process that includes the assessment, planning and coordination of options and services to meet a patient’s medical care needs in a manner that optimizes the utilization of available resources to achieve high- quality and cost-effective outcomes. The Candidate forms a collaborative partnership with administration, the medical and ancillary professional staff, and the leadership of the care management department to provide a comprehensive program that includes utilization management, progression of care management, social work services, and complex discharge planning. The collaborative partnership is focused on the inpatient services provided at Denver Health, and the flow of patients through the hospital, however it requires extensive coordination with Managed Care and the Ambulatory Clinical Care Management Program to be highly effective. It is essential to provide leadership, direction, and administration of the Clinical Documentation Integrity specialists in collaboration with the Coding, Finance, and Quality and Safety departments to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation by providers. This leadership facilitates correct coding, billing, and risk assessment in compliance with regulatory standards. Serves as a subject matter expert to IT for issues related to clinical documentation in the electronic health record.  The Medical Director will spend 30% of their time serving in a clinical capacity.
