Faculty Positions in Diabetes and Metabolism

The Center of Emphasis in Diabetes and Metabolism at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso’s Paul L. Foster School of Medicine invites applications for four tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The department seeks individuals with PhD, MD, MD-PhD, or equivalent degrees with expertise and a record of accomplishments in one or more of the following areas:

Basic and/or Translational Research: Ideal candidates should have research experience pertinent to diabetes, obesity, or related areas of investigation with expertise in one or more of the following areas: disease mechanisms and pathophysiology, early disease development and progression; biomarker development; proteomics; metabolomics; genomics; or experimental therapeutics. Areas of particular interest are: islet cell biology, including beta-cell differentiation and regeneration; the metabolic consequences of sleep-disordered breathing; and genetics, genomics, and epigenetics of diabetes and related metabolic disorders. Epidemiology and Population Health Research: Ideal candidates will have research experience in the development and investigation of community-based cohorts, with the goal of: identifying the determinants of risk, morbidity, or mortality; assessing the efficacy of early screening and prevention programs; or evaluating community- or clinic-based interventions. Experience in addressing health disparities in underserved populations is also valuable. Job Requisition ID: 12317BR

Clinical Research: Ideal candidates will have research experience in the areas of insulin sensitivity and secretion in human subjects, obesity and co-morbidities in adults and children; metabolic syndrome; or evaluation of new biomarkers, diagnostics, or therapeutics in clinical trials.
