The Rheumatology Division of Allegheny Health Network (AHN) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is hiring rheumatologists to join our team of 19 clinicians to provide care throughout the greater Pittsburgh region. Outstanding opportunities are available immediately at the Assistant Professor level for clinicians and clinician educators and at the Associate Professor and Professor level for leadership positions as Directors of Centers of Excellence (COE) within the Autoimmunity Institute.  These COEs will be modeled after our successful efforts with the Lupus Center of Excellence, focused on multispecialty patient care integrated with multidisciplinary research as published in Clinical and Translational Science 1:96-98, 2008. Physician-scientists with expertise in translational research focused on autoimmune diseases are particularly encouraged to apply.  Suburban-based rheumatology practice opportunities outside the city with an Institute affiliation and academic focus as well.

An expanded didactic schedule will be forthcoming as the Division opens its fellowship program for matriculation of two trainees yearly in July 2018.  Currently, regular Division educational sessions include CME-accredited weekly Rheumatology Grand Rounds, quarterly journal clubs, weekly Internal Medicine Grand Rounds, and regular interdisciplinary conferences with other specialties.  Suburban-based physicians have conference call options for participation in educational sessions. Division members provide medical students and residents in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine with didactic and bedside training through an annual lecture series and inpatient and outpatient elective rotations.  Division faculty are encouraged to serve as mentors for trainees interested in pursuing clinical and lab-based scholarly activities.

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) – a subsidiary of Highmark Health, the third largest integrated health care delivery and financing system in the nation, –  is an integrated delivery network focused on preserving health care choice and providing affordable, high-quality care to the people in our communities.  With more than 14,000 employees including 7,400 health care professionals, and nearly 200 primary care and specialty care practices, Allegheny Health Network includes seven hospitals in Pennsylvania with nearly 2,400 licensed beds.

Pittsburgh, PA is the second largest city in Pennsylvania and sits within the Appalachian Mountains at the confluence of the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers. Historically known as an industrial steel town, Pittsburgh has reinvented itself over the past 30 years and is now a major international research, technology, and education hub, with hundreds of businesses focusing on healthcare, engineering, robotics and software development. The City of Pittsburgh has been the recipient of dozens of national and international awards and recognitions over the past several years, including being named one of the most livable cities in the world by numerous media outlets due to its affordable cost of living, world class arts and entertainment, proximity to internationally recognized colleges and universities, and plentiful access to green space and recreational opportunities.
