Practice Opportunity Highlights

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 280-provider multispecialty group practice seeking a board certified or board eligible pediatrician who is committed to a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care and is willing to support and grow a pediatric medical group practice in an underserved community, as part of a dedicated pediatric program within a multispecialty medical group framework. This opportunity is perfect for the pediatrician who seeks a more rural practice with the support of a large health system and well organized multispecialty group practice including 13 other pediatric providers in the system.

Responsibilities include management of the pediatric health services patient. This involves direct management of the patient including, but not limited to, the following exams, procedures, and services: annual and routine well child check exams, acute illness, inpatient services, and injury care, et al. Collaboration with obstetricians in deliveries and subsequent neonatal care is expected although the scope of care does not include care of critically ill infants.

The provider will also ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility and request timely consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. The qualified candidate must be passionate about pediatric health issues and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills, and problem solving abilities.

The provider must obtain an unrestricted full medical license in Idaho and Oregon and hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Idaho and Oregon Boards of Pharmacy and the DEA. The desirable candidate will also have prior pediatric practice healthcare experience in a clinic setting; this experience may be through a residency program. Moreover, Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) recently implemented the NexGen® electronic health record (EHR) in its clinics and Saint Alphonsus has an established Cerner PowerChart® EHR. Therefore, experience with EHRs is desirable.

Saint Alphonsus Health System Guiding Behaviors

The Health System establishes and promotes the following guiding behaviors: we support each other in serving; we communicate openly, honestly, respectfully, and directly; we are fully present; we are all accountable; we trust and assume goodness in intentions; and we are continuous learners. It is our cultural expectation that all providers will emulate these guiding behaviors and model them for all associates. Moreover, as a Catholic Health Care Services Provider, we expect our providers to deliver care in accordance with the USCCB Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.

Saint Alphonsus greatly values the input and leadership of our providers and encourages each provider to actively participate in department meetings, SAMG Leadership Council, and in matters of practice/service line development. As continuous learners, we also encourage and promote ongoing continuing medical education (CME) activities for our providers and will financially support your CME endeavors. Additionally, as part of our shared vision to become a trusted health partner for life, we strive to continuously increase patient satisfaction and loyalty.

Community Highlights

Fruitland, Idaho is located in southwestern Idaho, near the Oregon border. Fruitland, a small rural community of just over 4,600 residents, is the geographic center of the surrounding cities of Ontario, Payette, Weiser, and New Plymouth. Located along the Snake River, it is the first city and western entrance to Idaho’s picturesque Treasure Valley. Fruitland’s elevation is 2,225 feet and is flanked by the Snake River on the west, the Payette River on the north, and farmland on the south and east. As its name indicates, it is the center of one of the most productive fruit growing areas in Idaho.

Fruitland is a wonderful place to raise a family, offering great schools, shopping, and a number of recreational opportunities. It is a youthful and thriving community, with a median resident age of 33 years and a population that increased 23% since 2000. A strong sense of community remains integral to life in Fruitland, as sincere and friendly people are enthusiastically involved in neighborhood activities. Fruitland has a pleasant mix of old and new and is a great place to work, play, and live.

Recreational activities are a highlight of the surrounding area. The beautiful Owyhee Mountains and Boise National Forest are within a short drive. Just north of the Treasure Valley, world class river rafting can be found on the Payette River. The Snake River flows to the south and is home to many wineries and fruit farms. This rural and small town setting is complemented by the fact that the big-city amenities of Boise, Idaho are less than an hour away.

Across the Snake River, which serves as the area’s Idaho-Oregon border, lies Ontario, Oregon. The cities of Fruitland and Ontario serve as the retail, service, and medical center hub for 70,000 people within a 20-mile radius. Access to Boise from these cities is incredibly convenient via Interstate 84. U.S. Highway 95 connects Fruitland to recreation areas in northern and southern Idaho and Oregon Highways 20/26, 30, and 201 all pass through Ontario.
